Visit Milwaukee challenged our class to increase awareness and engagement with the Milwaukee Theater District, a coalition of 16+ performing arts venues and entertainment organizations. Their goal was to attract both locals and tourists through creative, out-of-market marketing strategies that showcased the city's arts scene.
Working as part of a four-person consulting team, I helped develop a campaign concept called the “Stage Side Selfie Experience.” This activation involved installing immersive, Broadway-style photo sets in high-traffic Milwaukee locations (e.g., Fiserv Forum, Third Ward). Each photo set replicated scenes from real Milwaukee productions and included props, lighting, and costumes. QR codes encouraged user interaction by linking to ticket discounts, behind-the-scenes content, and show schedules. I personally contributed to writing the activation plan, assisting with the campaign calendar, and scripting our final pitch presentation.
The campaign was praised by Visit Milwaukee for its potential to spark organic social media sharing and expand the theater district’s visibility beyond city limits. Our proposal emphasized out-of-market buzz, local pride, and real-time audience engagement. It served as a real-world opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in branding, content strategy, and experiential marketing
